Do I have to donate to use Velnode?
No. The full browser — Password Vault, local Vee, and zero-knowledge sync — is free forever, with every feature unlocked. Donations are a thank-you from people who want to help keep Velnode independent. They’re never a toll, and you’ll never be nagged.
Is a donation the same as Velnode Pro?
No — they’re separate on purpose. Pro (coming soon) is a paid subscription that adds optional cloud features. A donation buys nothing extra; it simply supports the independent project. You can use one, both, or neither.
Where does the money actually go?
Development time, independent security audits, and the infrastructure that delivers updates and sync. There’s no marketing budget and no investor return to pay — just the real cost of keeping Velnode alive and honest.
Can I stop a monthly donation?
Any time, in one click, with no questions and no guilt. You stay fully in control of recurring giving from the moment you start it.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Velnode is a commercial product from Dignity New Zealand Limited, not a registered charity, so donations generally aren’t tax-deductible. We’re always happy to send a receipt on request.
How is my payment handled, and is it private?
Through established providers — Ko-fi, Givealittle, and card processing. Velnode never sees or stores your card details, and we never sell or share donor data. It’s the same privacy promise as the browser itself.
